Music festivals had become a tradition on new years eve in Tulum. From Young Turks in Caleta Tankah (2013), to the new venues like Zamna or private houses in Boca Paila. In only a few years Tulum has become a hot spot for cool people and trend setters, we all´ve heard it, but what many doesn´t know is that Tulum is more familiar to New Yorkers than it is to people living in Cancun just 120 km away.
For us, all this coolness is unafforfable, the beach that we used to sleep for 20 dlls a night now comes at 400 dlls (vegan-organic-yoga breakfast not included). And even though it is an amazing place with a truly magical vibe, you get bored pretty quickly of all this beautiful people finding themselves while practicing yoga and sniffing vegan MDMA.
So we let Tulum be, while we enjoy our own spots. But, when our good friend Fersito, from Red Bull México, asked us to document some of the NYE events, we were excited to see what this partys looked like know.
This is a visual recap:
Jan 13th | Sound Tulum Closing Party | SOLOMUN + TALE OF US
Jan 8th | Y´AM Celebration | SATORI + CRUSSEN + UNDERS
Jan 6th | Sound Tulum AFTERLIFE | KIASMOS + LUM
Jan 5th | Comunité Festival | NICOLA CRUZ + CARL CRAIG
PS – Big shout out to “Pecas” for driving late at night and feeding us with Red Bulls and Tycos.
